A sport filled Sunday is something that this quarantine period has truly made me appreciate. No better way to wrap up a weekend then to sit on a couch, watch sports, and sweat out some picks. Although this Sunday is no Wild Card Weekend or MM Round of 32, it is finally a Sunday with some real sports. Bundesliga soccer is back, and at noon Bayern will go out and spank whatever team it is they are playing. Can’t say I am much of a soccer fan I did enjoy watching Dortmund yesterday, and am looking forward to seeing Bayern today. These are masters of their craft, and it is promising to see them playing for real. Nascar is racing for real today in Darlington. The iRacing was a great marketing move by Nascar and I expect a considerable number of eyeballs to be on this race.

In what is essentially a teaser for “The Match” next Sunday, Rory and Dustin (-180) take on Rickie and Matthew Wolff (+130) in a skins match at Seminole in Florida. Rory and Dustin opened as heavy favorites, but the line has moved towards the Rickie and Wolff team. On paper, Rory and Dustin are the better two players and it’s not even close. World #1 Rory McIlroy is #1 for a reason, he’s an animal and gets birdies in bunches, a great trait for the skins format. DJ is a consistent winner on the PGA tour, and he has a major on his resume, something the other side lacks.
I like the team of rookie stud Matthew Wolff and fan favorite Rickie Fowler today. I was able to grab them a couple days ago at +145 but the line has moved since. While they are underdogs, this team has a great chance to win this match. Rickie knows Seminole better than anyone playing today. He has won the last 3 Pro-Member tournaments there against star studded competition. Matthew Wolff has undoubtedly the most to play for. He has little experience at the professional level and is still unproven. He has been grinding for this match, something that his opponents have not. Rory has spent a little too much time podcasting and says he will start gearing up after this match for the resumption of the tour. These reasons give me enough to favor the juice on Rickie and Wolff.
DJ and Rory to win hole 1 (+250). Hole 1 at Seminole is a short par 4 with little trouble. DJ and Rory make their money on these holes and I expect a birdie from at least one of them. Wolff is one of the worst short par 4 players on tour (210thin scoring average on par 4’s of 325-400 yards). The worry is Rickie playing this hole well too, and making a birdie for the push. At +250 the value is great.
A hole out from off the green (+110). Donald Ross golf courses have some ridiculous greens that are difficult to keep a ball on. Players will be chipping or putting from around the green a lot, and in a format like skins, these guys will be going for makes. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are 3 or 4 makes today.
Good luck to all playing and watching today, and hopefully this is just the beginning of sports returning.
